Prize from Darcie Glam from New Year's Eve Streamathon

I received a happy mail box of goodies from Darcie Glam.  During her stream Darcie covered the top of plastic boxes with clear glues and floor wax mixed with glitter and sprays.  I won the Steam Punk Box with the floor wax mixture on the top of the box.  Not only did I get the gorgeous box, it was loaded and she sent a whole load of extra.  A gorgeous card, metal camera embellishment, metal frame, paper pad, beautiful pink fibers and each item was wrapped in pattern tissue tape.

Darcie sorry for the delay.....I have pinched nerve in neck and sitting a computer is painful.  Ipad easier but not as easy to update blog.

Darcie.....thank you for the wonderful package of goodies.  I can't wait to use it.

3D Dress Form

I was watching a Ustream - Morgan's Fancies - Kathleen Roussel and she was making a 3D Dress Form using the Tim Holtz Dress form die.  I love seeing streams using things that I have in my stash and decided this was another way to use that die.  Kathleen was good enough to send me a link to a You Tube where she originally saw the 3D Dress Form.

So it has taken me a while as I saw they used clear tacky glue which I didn't have, so I had to purchase that and then I did it in steps as it too the glue longer to dry that the quick dry stuff I usually use.  But today I was able to put the finishing touches on it and here it is:

And to give credit here is the link to the You Tube that Kathleen gave me:

Artful Reading Club - January 2013

My January book was:  The Collage Workbook  -  How to Get Started and Stay Inspired by Randel Plowman.

I was excited that I was able to purchased this book used on Amazon instead of paying full price....$8.99 which included shipping.  Since it was an art book, it may get glue or paint on it so the bargain price was great and the book was in great shape.

I absolutely love this book.  I love collage work but am not very good at it.  He tells you how to get started, which tools you need and what kind of materials you can use in collaging.  He gives you ideas on how to store your  material, but I determined I need to sort mine more than he does.  He instructs you through various creative processes to try including layering 101.

The great parts of the book are the 50 Creativity Exercises he provides with examples.  You can look through and see which ones appeal to you or you can try all of them.  I decided I want to do a collage as my art project to go with each one of the books I read for the Artful Reading Club.  Also included are free clip arts you can use.

So my first collage to represent The Collage Workbook was exercise #4 - Color Charge.  You were instruction to experiment with applying color to a collage that's primarily black and white.  A few strokes of bright can make a collage pop.

Here is my Color Charge Collage:

I was very happy with my black and white collage with the triangle pop of color.  I decided on using 6x6 size on my collage.  Basics: black cardstock paper, torn old book pages, pattern paper, magazine images, glue stick and distress ink.

I highly recommend this books if you are interesting in learning a lot of collage techniques.

Let the reading begin.  I have picked my books and have taken a photo of the basket full of books I plan on reading for the club.

Only one missing is Tuesday with Morrie and I will get it from library and read it on my Ipad.

Clean Scrapbook Room

Starting the year off right by straightening up my scrapbook room.  Now I just need to get busy and make something.

Maybe tomorrow....tired from sorting and straightening.

Entry to Mitzi's Plastic Bag Challenge

Mitzi challenged us to make something out of a plastic bag.

I made these shoes using plastic bags fused together, using the Target bag as the main design.
I watched numerous You Tube Videos to learn how to fuse plastic bags and make a thicker fabric to work with.  I then cut the shoes out and hand stitched them.   I added a little embellishment and this is what I came up with:

I am getting a great-grandbaby, Avalynn, sometime in the next two weeks.  We will see how they look on her.
